STEPHENS, Newton (Grandpa Steve) – of Flint, age 87, passed away June 22, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at West Flint Church of the Nazarene, 2254 S. Dye Rd., Flint, Dr. David Bowser officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Sunday and 11 AM – 2 PM and 4-7 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to West Flint Church of the Nazarene.

Newt was born in Redruth, England on November 9, 1924, son of the late Newton and Violet (Hodge) Stephens. He married Katie Kay Moore on February 4, 1950 in Flint and they spent 62 wonderful years together. Newt was a faithful member of West Flint Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Newt worked for Buick for over 30 years as a supervisor and was a photographer at Auto City Speedway for 25 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Newt is survived by his wife, Katie Kay; children, Kathy (Ted) Coleman, Karrie (John) Doering; grandchildren, Christy (fiancé Del), Scotty, Kaylea and Meagan; siblings, Tom Stephens, Violet White; several nieces and nephews.
