Philip S. Hill Jr.

U.S. Veteran

HILL, Philip S. Jr. – husband, father, Christian, volunteer – died June 25, 2012 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was 89. A charter member and past president of the Davison Lions Club, Phil was known for his self-less giving. When something needed to be done, Phil was first in line. Phil was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison as well, rarely missing a service. Born September 15, 1922 in Saginaw to the late Philip and Vera (Maynard) Hill, Phil graduated from Byron High School in 1942. He married Donna Anderson on August 1, 1953 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Saginaw. From 1942 to 1946, Phil served in the US Army at Oak Ridge, Tennessee during WWII. After the war, Phil worked as an Electric Truck Repairman at Buick for 34 years, retiring in 1984. Phil also operated an electrical business in the Davison area for over 40 years. Many Davison residents recall with fondness seeing “Phil’s truck” as he would drive from job to job.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Julie (John) Lusk of Port Huron; son, Jeff (Rose) Hill of Grand Blanc; grandson, Joshua (Sarah) Hill of Louisville, CO; grandson, Jason Hill of Boulder CO; granddaughter, Jeena Hill of Burton; grandsons, Sam and Scott Lusk of Port Huron; great-granddaughter, Lucia Hill and sister-in-law, Shirley Hill of Davison. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Paul. Special thanks to his caregivers, Dawn and Heather.

The Christian Rite of Burial will be performed 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint St., Davison; Rev. Todd Frusti officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Friday, there will be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Davison or the Davison Lions Club.
