NORTON, Vetra Clarice – of Burton, age 89, passed away May 1, 2012 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 at Faith Tabernacle, 1225 S. Center Rd., Burton; Rev. Tom Mattiuzzo officiating. The family will welcome visitors for one hour prior to the service.

Vetra was born in Mt. Airy, North Carolina on April 14, 1923, daughter of the late George and Grace (Kennedy) Smith. She graduated Flint Central High School. Mrs. Norton was a member of Riverside Tabernacle for more than 40 years.

Vetra is survived by her children, Westley J. (Jeanette), Vetra K. (Richard) Bilsland, Dewey G. (Kathleen) and Rev. Edward J. (Peggy); 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and sister, Alene (James) Bair. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Smith, Rev. Frank Smith and Jay Van Smith.
